THE CEREC MACHINE

Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics

Many patients have heard the term "One Visit Dentisty." Dr. Winther enjoys educating  her patients about the 3D scanning and designing computer. The teeth are scanned and the restoration is designed in the computer and sent to a milling machine to be created.  It is then stained and glazed in a compact in-office lab oven. There are still times and certain circumstances that call for the traditional prep, impression, and temporary placement and Dr. Winther will assess every  patient to determine the best individual treatment.

With the CEREC machine, Dr. Winther is able to do same-day restorations on almost all procedures (you can have a complete crown done in about two hours, in one visit), including inlays, onlays, crowns, and even some bridges. Restorations look outstanding, last a long time, and are biocompatible and metal-free.

INVISALIGN

Invisalign and Braces.jpeg

Invisalign is a brand of clear plastic aligners that are an alternative to traditional braces used to straighten teeth, fix bites, and perfect smiles. Using the iTero Element® scanner, Dr. Winther can take a fast and precise 3D digital scan of your teeth and map out a custom treatment plan for you. Call to schedule your free consultation today!

How Does Invisalign Work?

  • You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

  • As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to their final position.

  • You’ll visit us about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

  • Total treatment time averages 6 to 15 months

Preventative

Sealants - Sealants are one of the most underutilized treatment used. It is a it is a thin, protective coating made of resin that adheres to the chewing surface of your back teeth. They’re no substitute for brushing and flossing, but they can keep cavities from forming and may even stop early stages of decay from becoming a full-blown cavity. In fact, sealants have been shown to reduce the risk of decay by nearly 80% in molars!!

Flouride Varnish - Fluoride varnish is a safe and effective dental treatment that can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Fluoride varnish is made with fluoride, a mineral that can strengthen tooth enamel.

General and Cosmetic Restorative

Composite fillings -We offer BPA-free tooth colored fillings to restore cavities and fill voids and wear on tooth surfaces. The material is matched to the tooth and is a mixture of resin and glass silica particles.

Veneers - A veneer is made of either porcelain or composite and is placed over a tooth, either to improve the esthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth's surface from damage.

Inlays/Onlays - Many times a filling is too large to be supported by the tooth and an onlay or "partial crown" is necessary. These ceramic based restorations not only look better, but undergo less shrinkage, help restore the strength of the tooth, have minimal porosity and excellent marginal integrity, and they have smoother surfaces that are kinder to the gums and result in less plaque accumulation. They are very durable and with our CEREC technology, it can be made and cemented in one visit.

Patients appreciate avoiding the inconvenient, uncomfortable and expensive second appointment. No second appointment means no temporaries, no emergency visits, and best of all, healthy tooth structure is preserved

Crowns -  We offer a variety of crowns from ceramic (porcelain, zirconia, Emax) as well as Porcelain Fused to metal and full gold crowns. We take pride in doing many of the crowns in one visit with our CEREC machine. They are composed of lithium discilicate (Emax) and offer both strength and esthetics. However, we also understand that there are times when the crown needs to be done in different materials and different methods are employed such as taking a traditional impression and sending it to the lab. Dr. Winther takes the time to evaluate her patients needs and provide the best long lasting restoration for each individual.

Bridges - A bridge is sometimes used to replace one to three missing teeth. The teeth adjacent to the missing space is prepped like a crown and is attached to the tooth over the missing space. The procedure usually takes more than one dental visit. On the first visit, Dr. Winther prepares the teeth on both sides of the gap and later attaches the bridge to these teeth.

An impression or an image of your teeth and the space is taken and sent to a dental laboratory. Technicians at the lab make the bridge. Dr Winther places a temporary bridge to protect your prepared teeth while you are waiting for the permanent bridge.

When the permanent bridge is ready, Dr Winther adjusts and cements the bridge to the prepared teeth. This type of bridge is permanent.

Implant crowns: Implant crowns are also used to replace missing teeth without any damage or drilling on adjacent teeth. The crown is screwed or cemented onto the abutment. If the crown is screwed to the abutment, the screw hole will be covered with composite.
